Lapine

Vertebrates

Infamous for their damage dealt in Lavandul, Lapines are amazing mammals that are most closely related to the endangered wild rabbit. It is notable to mention their larger size and exaggerated features.

Initially named for the Lapine(Lavender) flowers that closely resemble the unique quills(?) that can extend from the neck or even all the way down their dorsal line. The name has stuck around to still describe individuals that have evolved to imitate other botanicals such as daisies, hyacinths, etc.

While they are usually preyed upon by Shriekers, the abundance of available food can become overbearing and the Lapines born then exceeds the amount hunted. This overpopulation is being controlled with questionable effectiveness. Companion Lapines will commonly develop odd colorations and anatomical changes.  Note: They do not smell like lavender they smell like rabbit poo.
